Tehran: Brigadier General Majid Khademi, head of the intelligence protection unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, has been killed in an Israeli airstrike, according to Iranian state media. The strike reportedly took place early Monday amid escalating tensions in the region.

Strike Amid Intensifying Conflict

Reports indicate that heavy airstrikes were carried out in and around Tehran, allegedly involving Israeli forces. The IRGC condemned the attack, calling it a “criminal terrorist act” and blamed Israel and its allies for the operation. Khademi was considered one of Iran’s most influential security officials and played a key role in intelligence and national security operations.

Key Role in Iran’s Security Establishment

Majid Khademi was appointed to lead the IRGC’s intelligence protection organization in June 2022. He held a PhD in national security and strategic defense sciences and had previously served in senior intelligence roles within Iran’s defense ministry.

His appointment followed the killing of former intelligence chief Mohammad Kazemi and his deputy Hassan Mohaqiq in an earlier Israeli strike. Khademi’s death marks another significant blow to Iran’s security leadership amid ongoing hostilities.
