Ranchi, April 15: Former Chief Minister and BJP legislature party chief Babulal Marandi today demanded severe punishment for Jharkhand cadre IAS officer Chhavi Ranjan for his involvement in selling army land in Ranchi.

He tweeted regarding his  demand after the central probe agency ED raided 21 locations linked to Ranjan and his aides across the country and sent seven to judicial custody while probing a land scam.  Marandi justified the severe punishment as the matter is related to the army.

Ranjan is present state social welfare director and he allegedly played his role in the land scam when he was deputy commissioner of Ranchi.

“@HemantSorenJMM, Chief Minister Sir, if this discussion is correct that IAS Chhavi Ranjan is your partner and confidant in all the land scams that have occurred under your patronage while serving as Ranchi DC, then I am confident that you will send a good message not only to Jharkhand, but to the country and the world by severely punishing this officer who sold the land of an organisation such as the army,” his tweet reads.

“And if there is any merit in the allegation regarding your involvement in the matter then only God is the master and you can’t do anything. The question is also related to the security of the country. That’s why I request the Government of India @DoPTGoI to investigate the misdeeds of this officer from their level and take action,” the tweet further reads.
