Ranchi, June 20: The special CBI court today punished a BSNL employee and a computer supplier in a 16-year old case of corruption.
The quantum of punishment is 2 years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 to each of the convicts including the then TDM of BSNL Hazaribag unit Amod Kumar and computer supplier Ravindra Kumar Gupta.
This case arose in the year 2006. It involves Rs 1 lakh 92 thousand. The allegation against Amod Kumar was that he procured computers at exorbitant prices without following the required procedures and also made payments to the supplier.
There were altogether four accused in the case including the then TDM of BSNL Kumar, DT Dashrath Prasad Sharma, SDE BN Prasad and computer supplier Ravindra Kumar Gupta. However, Sharma and Prasad died during the judicial process which lasted for nearly one and a half decades.
