Ranchi, June 29: The Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) department at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) successfully repaired a hole in the heart of a 5-year-old Dhanbad boy, Bajrangi Mahto.
Dr. Vineet Mahajan, the department’s head, announced this after the child was released from the hospital on Wednesday. He showed the child’s smiling face after the operation and stated that the operation was complicated and took the department team approximately four hours to complete.
“The boy was only 10 kg. His heart had a hole in it. We closed the hole and enhanced the heart cavity,” he explained.
Dr. Mahajan stated that the surgery was free of charge because the child came from a poor family and did not have an Ayushmaan card or any other type of financial support.
He stated that the RIMS CTVS department is available around the clock and that there is no need for anyone to go to a private hospital.
