Dhanbad, July 18: Altogether 19 candidates from 12 districts, including four females have applied for the Jharkhand Badminton Association (JBA) state-level umpire examination to be held in Dumka district from July 21 to 23.
Giving this information on Tuesday, Jharkhand Badminton Association secretary K Prabhakar Rao said that the highest number of candidates (three each) has filed nominations from Ranchi, Ramgarh and Dhanbad districts followed by two each from Godda, Dumka, Sahibganj and one each from East Singhbhum (Jamshedpur), West Singhbhum, Lohardaga and Seraikela.
The JBA secretary had asked all the affiliated districts to send at least two names for the examination with a special focus on female candidates. The last date for sending names was July 15.
The candidates who have filed nomination for examination are (female) Priyanka Kumari (Jamshedpur), Vandana Khalkho, Amullya Anjela Lakra (both fro, Ranchi), and Sweta Mahto (Seraikela).
The male candidates who have filed nomination are Jeetendra Kachhap ( Ranchi), Abhishek Kumar, Mintu Bishwakarma, Bajrangi Priyaranjan ( all from Dhanbad), Vinit Kumar, Akash Kumar, Pawan Gopal ( all from Ramgarh), Anjani Sharan, Abdul Waris Khan (Dumka), Selwyn Simon, Amit Hembram (Godda), Abhishek Hansda, Shivam Raj (Sahibganj), Jagdish Jamuda ( West Singhbhum) and Ranjit Kumar Sahu ( Lohardaga).
Convener of the state badminton umpire association Avinash Kumar Tiwary said that all the candidates have to report to the secretary of Dumka Badminton Association Dipak Kumar Jha on July 19. Classes would be held for the examinees on July 19-20 followed by written and practical examinations during the state cum East Zone team trial championship there.
A high-level committee under JBA secretary K Prabhakar Rao has been constituted to take interviews of candidates after written and practical examinations. Other members of the committee are Sudarshan Mandal (DIG), Dipak Jha, Barun Kumar and Avinash Tiwary.
Dumka Badminton Association secretary Dipak Jha said all arrangements for the umpires examination and state team trial for the East Zone championship has been completed.
