New Delhi, Feb 26: Russian forces, attacking the pro-Western country Ukraine, have killed 198 civilians so far, including three children, as told by Ukraine’s health minister.
“Unfortunately, according to operative data, at the hands of the invaders we have 198 dead, including 3 children, 1,115 wounded, including 33 children,” Health Minister Viktor Lyashko wrote on Facebook.
Earlier in the day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was offered to flee Kyiv with the help of the US government, but he declined, according to the Associated Press.
“The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride,” according to a senior American intelligence official, the report said. The official, it said, described Zelensky as “upbeat”.
After a barrage of bombings on cities and military bases around the country, invading Russian forces closed in on Ukraine’s capital on Saturday, in an apparent encircling strategy.
