New Delhi, May 10: A total of 20 pilgrims have died since the Char Dham Yatra began on May 3. According to the Uttarakhand health authorities, these persons died as a result of heart problems and high altitude illness. In Yamunotri and Gangotri Dham, 14 passengers were killed. A Nepalese labourer is also among them. Aside from that, five people have died in Kedarnath and one in Badrinath. The death of 20 pilgrims in six days has alarmed the yatra’s organisers and administration.
To get to Kedarnath and Yamunotri Dham, pilgrims must take an arduous trek. With the cold, walking through high altitude places depletes oxygen. Patients with high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, or asthma are at danger of deteriorating their health when walking in this condition.
