Dhanbad, June 2: Dhanbad POCSO court today awarded 20 years’ jail term to a youth identified as Ranjit Kumar Chouhan in a two-year-old case of unnatural sex with a minor.

The Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) said that the POCSO court special judge Prabhakar Singh while delivering the judgement in the case today also imposed a fine of Rs 8,000 on the accused.

The court had held Ranjit Kumar Chouhan guilty in the case on Thursday and announced the quantum of punishment today.

The case is two years old. As per the FIR lodged in Loyabad police station of the district on August 21, 2021, the accused took away the boy in a nearby forest and committed the crime. When the minor boy protested, the accused injured him with a knife.

The Loyabad police after investigation filed a charge sheet in the court on October 12, 2021. The APP said a total of six witnesses were examined during the trial in the case.
