Dhanbad, Dec 27: 21 doctors of Jharkhand are going to get national awards for their outstanding contribution in the field of health services at the two-day annual national convention of Indian Medical Association (IMA) in Patna today.
Besides felicitation of selected doctors of the country, the newly elected national president of IMA, Dr Sahajnand Prasad Singh will take charge from the outgoing president Dr J A Jiyalal.
The two-day convention ( December 27-28) will be held in Bapu Sabhagar/ SK Memorial Hall, Gandhi Maidan Patna in the evening. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Health Minister Mangal Pandey along with national officials of IMA will attend the ceremony.
“This is the first time in 21 years of Jharkhand that 21 doctors of the state have been selected for IMA President’s Appreciation Award for their excellent services in 2020-21. This is a proud moment for the state and this award will encourage the doctors to provide more services to people,” said Dr AK Singh, President of IMA Jharkhand.
Last time at the Kolkata annual convention in 2019, only eight doctors of Jharkhand had been awarded.
Significantly for the first time, six young doctors of Jharkhand; Dr Ajit Kumar (Sadar hospital Ranchi), Dr SK Singh, Dr Rajkumar, Dr Dev Prabha Bhagat and Dr Avi Sarkar (RIMS Ranchi) and Dr Thakur Mritunjay Singh of Ramgarh will be provided prestigious IMA President’s Appreciation Award at Patna today for their services to patients during Corona pandemic.
“We are pleased to inform you that the IMA committee has selected you for best young doctor for the year 2020-21 in recognition of the services rendered by you,” said the IMA national president to Dr Ajit Kumar of Ranchi.
While Dr Ajay Kumar Singh will be awarded for lifetime service to IMA, Jharkhand IMA chapter President Dr AK Singh and Secretary Dr Pradeep Kumar Singh have been selected best in the country.
Dr Mritunjay Singh of Jamshedpur, Dr Gaurishankar of Deoghar, Dr Bharti Kashyap of Ranchi, Dr Anupam Singh, Dr Anant Kumar Ojha, Dr AK Chakravarti (Dhanbad), Dr Vidya Bhushan of Giridih, Dr Prabha Rani Prasad of Godda will be given the award in Patna today.
