Ranchi, Jan.25: Out of 668 police personnel selected for the President’s police medal this year as many as 22 are from Jharkhand.
The fact came to the fore after the list of president medal awardees was released on the eve of Republic Day.
Out of 22, as many as 9 have been selected for the Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG), one for President Medal for Distinguished Service and 12 for Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
This President’s medal will be given by the Chief Minister of Jharkhand on the occasion of Independence Day on 15 August 2023 or by the Governor of Jharkhand on the occasion of Republic Day next year on 26 January 2024 at Morabadi Maidan in Ranchi.
The list of PMG awardees includes ASI Arun Kumar Singh, ASP Vipul Pandey, DSP Ramendra Kumar, SI Brij Kumar, SI John Murmu, SI Satyendra Kumar Singh, Havildar Arvind Minz and Constable Navneet Naval.
The list of Police Medal for Meritorious Service awardees includes Jharkhand Jaguar inspector Shankar Kamti, inspector (technical) of police wireless in Ranchi Rajiv Kamal, Chaibasa SP office sub inspector Gurudev Thakur, sub inspector (arms) Singhraj Tamang, armour sub inspector Mohammed Arshad Khan, ASI of Chaibasa DIG office Basant Kumar Paswan, ASI posted in Ranchi Ranjit Kumar, Havildar posted in Ranchi, Amit Kumar, Havildar posted in Ranchi Prabha Kerketta and Havildar posted in Ranchi Sanjay Kumar Hota.
One who will get the President Medal for Distinguished Service is Dy SP Navin Kumar Lakra.
