Srinagar, Feb 17: An earthquake of magnitude 3.6 on the Richter scale hit Jammu and Kashmir’s Katra on Friday morning. The epicentre of the earthquake was 97 kilometres east of Katra. The latitude and longitude of the earthquake were found to be 33.10 degrees and 75.97 degrees respectively.

As per the National Center for Seismology, the tremor hit the region at 5.01 am and its depth was 10 km. However, no casualty or damage to property has been reported yet.
Earlier on Thursday, earthquake tremors were felt in the Masbate region of the central Philippines. According to the United States Geological Survey, the epicentre of the earthquake was 11 kilometres from the nearest village of Miaga, in Uson municipality, on the province’s main island of Masbate.
On Wednesday, an earthquake of magnitude 6.1 on the Richter scale had hit New Zealand. Moreover on Monday, an earthquake of magnitude 4.3 on the Richter scale had jolted Afghanistan’s Fayzabad.
