Daltonganj, Nov. 20: Following mounting pressure of the Harihurganj police, three people identified as Chhotu Singh, Pankaj Singh and Animesh Singh accused of murdering the district treasurer of the Palamu BJYM Sumeet Srivastav, surrendered to the court of law in Daltonganj.

SP Palamu, Chandan Kr Sinha said, “The trio surrendered to the court of law but we will pray to the court for their police remand very soon. Our police had intensified the heat of arrest on those who rushed to the court and surrendered there.”

Sudama Kr Das, officer in-charge of the Harihurganj police station said these three are said to be the friends of the deceased.

Srivastav was found murdered in his car which was parked on NH 98 very recently.  Police had recovered one empty cartridge in the car where the body of the deceased was found. The car belonged to Srivastav.

The bullet lodged in Srivastav’s body was finally extracted in RIMS Ranchi although his body was autopsied in MMCH Daltonganj by a panel of 3 doctors.

A street protest also took place against the murder of the BJP youth ring functionary in Harihurganj.

Sources said there is one version that Srivastav fell victim to wanton killing when the shot that killed him was accidental.

“Truth will come out only when these three are taken out on police remand,” officer Das said.
