Ranchi, March 24: The Ranchi police today cracked the murder case registered at Argora police station on March 17 after 70-yr-old wife of a retired bank officer was murdered at her home at posh Ashok Nagar under Argora police station.
Three persons were arrested in this connection. The list of arrested accused includes Mohammed Aurangzeb Ansari (19), Mohammed Nafar alias Zafar alias Chotu (20) and Naushad Ansari (40). All are residents of Karkari Tangra Toli under Narkopi police station area. The first accused also has a rented room at the residence of Gulzar near ISM Chowk in Pundag.
Police recovered four mobile phones besides two knives used in the crime. Apart from this, the police also recovered the clothes they were wearing at the time of the commission of crime.
SSP S K Jha Saurav announced the breakthrough by organizing a press conference in the afternoon.
“They were known to the victim. Naushad was associated with the victim for the last 20 years and used to take all types of civil assignments of the house including painting and construction work. Two others were his close relatives and helping hands. This is the reason the lady allowed the two sent by him to enter the campus and offered refreshment before they killed her,” the SSP said, sharing the breakthrough.
Asked about the intention, the officer-in-charge of Argora police station, Vinod Kumar said ‘loot’.
The accused stabbed the lady 11 times to kill her. Asked the OC regarding the reason behind so, he explained saying that ‘the trio were known to the lady and to give no scope of identification they stabbed several times to ensure the death of the lady.’
On March 17, Malvika Sinha (70), wife of a retired bank officer Vijay Sinha, was stabbed to death. The criminal had refreshment before they committed the murder finding her alone in her house in the afternoon.
The incident rocked the city and the Kayastha Mahasabha staged a demonstration against the incident at Albert Ekka Chowk. BJP state president and Rajya Sabha member Deepak Prakash also cornered the state government on the issue saying women in Jharkhand are not safe in Jharkhand, neither in forest nor in a posh locality.
Explaining how the police reached the accused, SSP S K Jha said that the breakthrough came with the support of technical support and human intelligence. “When Naushad refused to identify the youth whose picture was captured in CCTV, police got suspicious and the remaining work was done by the technical cell. “
