Dhanbad Nov 9: Police today claimed to have arrested three criminals involved in shooting and snatching Rs 8 lakh from an Airtel Payment Bank distributor Jhari Prasad Mahto eight days after the incident.
Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjiv Kumar informed today that the police team recovered Rs 28,000 looted cash, one country-made pistol, four live cartridges, three mobile phones and two bikes used by the criminals in committing the crime from their possession..
“ All the three are history- sheeters. They admitted to have their involvement in the looting and shooting of Airtel Payment Bank distributor on November 1,” said the SSP.
Bike borne criminals had on November 1 shot at Airtel Payment Bank distributor Jharia Mahto and snatched Rs 8 lakh near Birsa Munda park when he was going to deposit the amount in Airtel Payment Bank Loharbarba branch. The criminals shot five bullets on Mahto.
The arrested criminals have been identified as Rajaul Ansari, Md Sarfaraj and Dasrath Mahto. All three are residents of Barbadda area of Govindur block of the district.
“ A team was set up to investigate the looting and shooting incident. The team getting information that some criminals were planning to commit crimes the police raided the spot and arrested them. Other criminals managed to escape taking advantage of darkness. The trio informed the names of their other accomplices involved in the crime,” said the SSP.
The SSP said Dasrath Mahto is the kingpin of the group and had committed several crime incidents in Bihar. He formed his team in Dhanbad and started looting and shooting.
