Ranchi, May 23: Joy of marriage turned into sorrow after a speeding car rammed into a marriage procession leaving three dead and over 12 injured.

The incident took place late at night at Sandi Chowk on Sikidiri-Ormanjhi Road, about 25km from the Jharkhand capital.

“A car coming at a high speed became out of control and rammed into a marriage procession beside the road. After the incident, people caught the driver and bear him black and blue. All the injured have been admitted to RIMS. The procession had come to Sandi at Kartik Mahto’s house from Lupung Jara village under Angada police station area,” a locality resident said.

A police official said it is yet to be ascertained how the car became uncontrolled. S.P.(rural) Naushad Alam, however, said it was a case of rash driving. “People would have killed the driver if police had not reached on time,” he said.
