Dumka, Nov. 29: A 30-year old woman was buried alive at a coal loading point of the Lalmatiya-based coal project of the Eastern Coalfield Limited (ECL) in Godda district on Monday morning after the heap of the overburden caved in.

Two male teens who were also engaged in picking up coal from the loading side, however, were rescued by the others who were present in the vicinity by the time the incident occurred.

Although the local police have denied having been reported about the incident sources said that the dead body of the buried woman namely Talapaku Hembrom of the nearby Bagjori village was later pulled out from under the debris.

“We have not been reported about any such incident of cave-in or for the death of anyone in Lalmatiya project area either by the management or the victim families,” the officer-in-charge of the Lalmatiya police station Lalit Pandey said.

Sources quoting locals, however, said that victims hardly turn up to inform police for conducting rescue operations or any other relief apprehending legal action for stealing coal.
