New Delhi, March 2: According to official sources, 31 evacuation flights will be operated to neighbouring countries of Ukraine’s crisis-hit, bringing back more than 6,300 Indians stranded in the eastern European country.
The flights will be operated by Air India, Air India Express, IndiGo, SpiceJet, and the Indian Air Force as part of ‘Operation Ganga.’ From March 2, there will be 21 evacuation flights to transport Indians back from Bucharest, Romania, and four from Budapest, Hungary.
According to the sources, 4 flights will be operated to bring back people from Rzeszow in Poland and 1 flight from Kocise in Slovakia. In addition to this, Indian Air Force will be bringing back Indians from Bucharest. Together, the planned 31 flights from March 2 till March 8 will be coming back with more than 6,300 people.
Air India Express and SpiceJet planes can carry roughly 180 passengers, whereas Air India and IndiGo planes can carry 250 and 216 passengers, respectively.
SpiceJet will operate four flights in addition to the seven that Air India Express will operate. 7 flights will be operated by Air India, and 12 flights will be operated by IndiGo, according to the sources.
Air India Express and Air India is scheduled to fly from Bucharest while IndiGo has planned 4 flights each from Bucharest, Budapest and Rzeszow. Two flights of SpiceJet’ will fly from Bucharest, 1 from Budapest and 1 from Kocise in Slovakia.
