Ranchi, May 26: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI, probing the 34th National Games scam, recovered some incriminating documents today and has started scrutinizing the same.

A press release issued by the investigating agency this evening informed that searches were conducted at 16 places and the places included the premises of the accused and others at Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Godda, Dumka districts of Jharkhand besides Patna in Bihar and Delhi.

The CBI had registered a case against former parliamentarian and the then Working Chairman of National Games Organizing Committee (NGOC), R.K.Anand and others including the then Director (Sports) of Jharkhand and then organizing secretary of NGOC, P.C.Mishra, the then treasurer of Jharkhand Olympic Association, M.K.Pathak and others.

The action was taken in compliance with the orders dated 11.04.2022 of the Jharkhand High Court and has taken over the investigation of cases related to the   34th National Games, Ranchi, earlier registered by the Anti-Corruption Bureau.

It was alleged that large-scale irregularities were committed in the purchase of sports items, equipment and allied services. The 34th National Games were held at Ranchi in February 2011.
