New Delhi, Feb 12: An earthquake of magnitude 4.0 on the Richter scale struck Assam’s Nagaon on Sunday.

An earthquake of magnitude 4.0 on the Richter scale occurred at 1618 hours in Nagaon, Assam today: National Center for Seismology

A 3.8 magnitude earthquake was registered in Gujarat’s Surat district one day. According to a representative of the Institute of Seismological Research (ISR), the tremor was felt at 12:52 am with its epicentre located about 27 km to the west south-west of Surat.

“It was recorded at a depth of 5.2 kilometres, and the epicentre was in the Arabian sea off Hazira in the district. The tremors caused no damage to property or life,” a district disaster management official said.
