Daltonganj, Oct 28: The second day of the mega vaccination drive that began on October 27 has 150 vaccination sites in Palamu, claimed civil surgeon Dr. Anil Kumar.
He said that the ongoing strike by the NRHM personnel is under observation and in view of this, the vaccination site is manned by just two people; one who is the vaccinator and the other who is the verifier.
Dr. Kumar said, “Our four-day mega vaccination drive will end on October 30. It will also cover the migrant workers who are heading towards home for the Chhath festival,” adding that people get too busy in the pre-Diwali activities and it is feared that vaccination will get the least attention from the public.
Six days after the Diwali, Chhath festival starts wherein people keep fasts and then they can’t get vaccinated. The CS said, “We started this 4-day mega vaccination drive just to overcome the limping situation which is about to come days ahead of the Diwali as well as after it.”
The CS and his team inspected half a dozen vaccination sites spanning over three blocks Lesliganj, Panki and Paton.
On Wednesday, SDO (Sadar) Rajesh Kumar Sah too had made a joint inspection of the vaccination site at Bishrampur community health centre which is lagging behind the vaccination target most miserably.
According to sources, the Union Health Ministry is mooting a plan to launch a month-long ‘knock at every door’ drive for the vaccination which will be either of the first dose or of the second dose.
