Jamshedpur, Aug 12: Mystery shrouds the sudden illness of all four members of an industrial worker’s family at Kandra in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Saturday.
Those found lying unconscious at their residence in Kandra this morning were Ramesh Hansda (45) and Madhuri Hansda (40), and their daughters Pratima (14) and Priya (9).
The police had rushed them to Seraikela Sadar Hospital, but keeping the victims’ condition in view, two of them, Ramesh Hansda and Priya, were referred to MGM medical hospital.
According to police, all the four had gone to bed last night but did not wake up in the morning despite inordinate delay leading the house owner, Raju Mahto, to inform the police.
“A police party had entered into the house by dismantling the asbestos roof to find all the four lying unconscious on their beds. Immediately after the police party had rushed them to the Sadar hospital, ” said Kandra thana OC, Rajendra Mahto while talking to lagatar24.com.
Mahto said from the preliminary diagnosis, the doctors on the emergency duty found it a case of poisoning and referred Ramesh Hansda and the nine-year-old girl to the medical college hospital as their condition was critical.
The police are now waiting for any of the patients to return to consciousness so that they can know whether the family members had attempted to commit suicide by consuming any poisonous substance or had fallen victim to any foul play.
Ramesh Hansda works at a private industrial unit, Amalgam Company in the Adityapur industrial area.
