Mungeli: A tragic accident at the Kusum Steel Plant in Chhattisgarh’s Mungeli district on Thursday claimed the lives of four workers, with at least four others feared trapped under debris. The incident occurred in the afternoon at the plant located in the Saragaon area, police said.

The silo, a tall cylindrical structure used for storing bulk materials, collapsed on around eight workers who were present at the site at the time of the incident.

Rescue Efforts Underway

Upon receiving information about the accident, the police reached the site and launched a rescue operation. “Efforts are ongoing to rescue the trapped workers,” said Mungeli Superintendent of Police Bhojram Patel. Emergency personnel are working to clear the debris and search for survivors.

The cause of the collapse remains unclear, and further investigation is expected to determine the factors leading to this tragic incident.
