PRINCE KUMAR

Ranchi, Dec 31: As many as 45 children ranging from 3-17 years of age have been found Covid positive in Ranchi during the investigation at Hatia station, Ranchi Railway Station and Birsa Munda Airport.

On collecting the history of infection, it was found that most of the children have become positive after coming in contact with an infected member in their family. While some children have reached here from other states.

After the confirmation of infection in children, a health expert said that WHO and other experts of the world had already estimated that the third wave could be fatal for children. In such a situation, it is more important to vaccinate them. However, the central government has started efforts in this direction and preparations are being made to vaccinate the children.

All the confirmed infected children in the district ranging from 3 to 17 years are in home isolation. For children who have mild symptoms (cold-cough and fever) medicines are being given to them at home along with medical advice over the phone.

Paediatrician Dr Rajesh Kumar said that most of the infected children have viral symptoms even after a corona infection. Paracetamol is being advised in case of fever. This gives instant relief from fever. “On the other hand, those who do not have any kind of symptoms, their relatives are given decoction and hot water in the morning and evening. All have been shifted to a separate room and isolated,” Kumar said.
