New Delhi, June 28: A tractor-trailer rig carrying alleged migrants was discovered on Monday on a lonely back road in southwest San Antonio, where 46 individuals were found dead and 16 more were rushed to hospitals, according to officials.
Shortly before 6 o’clock on Monday, a call for help at the scene informed a city employee there of the emergency, according to Police Chief William McManus. When the police came, they discovered a body outside the trailer and a gate that was only half open, he claimed.
According to Fire Chief Charles Hood, 12 adults and four children were among the 16 patients with heat-related disorders who were sent to hospitals. He claimed that there was no water in the trailer and that the patients were both hot to the touch and dehydrated. Three persons were detained, but McManus said it was not obvious whether they had any direct involvement in human trafficking.
According to McManus, those in the trailer were allegedly involved in an attempt to smuggle migrants into the country. U.S. Homeland Security Investigations was in charge of the investigation.
According to a government official who spoke to The Associated Press under the condition of anonymity because the information had not been approved for public release, those in the trailer were allegedly involved in an attempted migrant smuggling in South Texas.
Among the thousands of people who have perished recently trying to cross the Mexican border into the United States, it might be the deadliest catastrophe. Ten migrants perished in a truck that was parked at a San Antonio Walmart in 2017 after being trapped inside. 2003 saw the discovery of 19 migrants in a hot truck southeast of San Antonio.
