Ranchi: BJP state spokesperson Rafia Naaz has lashed out at the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government for allegedly insulting 5.46 lakh women under the ‘Maiyaan Samman Yojana’ by declaring them ineligible after initially including them in the scheme. She accused the state government of betraying poor women for electoral gains and termed the move an example of vote bank politics.
From promise to betrayal
Naaz said that the government first included these women to gain votes and is now humiliating them by calling them ineligible after the elections. “If even one woman is forced to return the money, the BJP will not tolerate this injustice,” she warned. She alleged that the government gave them money to secure votes and is now trying to recover the amount post-election, showing its “true character.”
What changed after March 2025?
According to Naaz, until March 2025, a total of 37.55 lakh women were confirmed as beneficiaries after Aadhaar linking and verification. However, 5.46 lakh women have now been removed from the list, and the state is allegedly considering recovering the distributed amount from them. “If these women were ineligible, why was money transferred to them via DBT?” she asked, accusing the government of deception.
Government reversing on promises
Naaz claimed that this move reflects the government’s duplicity. “They never cared about these sisters and daughters, they were merely vote banks,” she said. “Was this respect or a calculated political move?”
BJP’s warning
Naaz emphasized that the BJP has always prioritized women’s dignity and welfare and will fight any injustice done to them. “If recovery is attempted from even one woman, BJP will take the fight from the streets to the assembly,” she declared.
