Ranchi, Nov 2: Covid testing at Ranchi railway station, Hatia station and Birsa Munda Airport continued to be a big challenge for the Ranchi administration. Passengers coming to the capital are refusing to undergo covid test and in case they get positive reports, they go to their homes.
The Magistrates placed at all the three locations are finding it very difficult to manage the overcrowding at the locations with the bare minimum police force at the exit gates.
The Magistrate, Ajras Minz, deployed at Hatia station said that it is next to impossible to make the people wait in the queue.
“There are only four persons to check the passengers in a team because of which mobile number verification is not possible,” Minz said.
Talking to the Covid camp in-charge Divyana Khalkho at the Ranchi railway station she said that there is only one police personnel provided to the Covid investigation team.
“With such a huge number of passengers, it is very difficult to check each one with only one police personnel available, also we are unable to verify the mobile numbers of the passengers due to the unavailability of the manpower,” Khalkho said.
“Today we have received five Covid positive patients in the morning shift and each of them went back to their homes,” Khalkho further said.
Talking about the issue, SDM Deepak Dubey said that 15 police personnel are to be provided to each location in each shift.
“If the Covid patient is escaping the place then strict actions will be taken against those who are responsible,” the SDM said.
It has been seven days since DC Chhavi Ranjan during a virtual meeting of District Covid Task Force ordered that no passenger will move out untested and covid positive passenger to be taken to covid hospital.
