Patiala, May 5: After 60 students tested positive for Covid-19, the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL) in Patiala, Punjab, was declared a containment zone. The pupils who were sick had mild symptoms and were confined in separate blocks.

The university administrators were urged to leave hostels by May 10 in order to contain the spread of Covid-19 illness. Since a few weeks, India has seen an increase in daily Covid-19 cases, with many cases reported from schools and universities across various states.

16 kids from the Welham Girls’ School in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, have tested positive for Covid-19.

Previously, incidents have been reported in Delhi, Noida, and Gaziabad among school pupils. As a result of the situation, authorities issued advisories and asked parents to refrain from sending their children to school.

Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases on the campus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M) has surpassed 170. The college, on the other hand, was not closed down.

“The government and authorities are trying their best to ensure that IIT Madras Covid cluster doesn’t spread to other places,” Principal Health Secretary Dr J Radhakrishnan said.
