Mumbai, Jan 14: A 62-year-old man was arrested by L T Marg police on Friday for allegedly throwing acid on his 54-year-old live-in partner at a chawl near Kalbadevi in Mumbai.
The victim, a resident of the Fanas Wadi area in Girgaon, suffered 40 per cent burns in the incident and is undergoing treatment.
Police said the incident occurred around 5:30 am on Friday when the woman got up to fetch water. The accused, Mahesh Pujari, who was out of the house for two days, came back and threw acid at his partner.
The woman was taken to a private hospital and reported to the police control room. “Our team arrived at the spot and arrested the accused within 15 minutes,” said Jyoti Desai, Senior PI at the LT Marg Police Station.

The couple, who were living together for the past 25 years, used to often fight over Pujari`s drinking habits, said police.
As per information, Mahesh Pujari and the woman were in a live-in-relationship for the past 25 years. However, things had not been going well between the duo in recent times. Due to frequent tiffs, the woman allegedly pressurised the accused to leave her house.
The woman with severe injuries has been admitted to a hospital for treatment while the accused has been arrested by Mumbai’s LT Marg Police.
