New Delhi, Dec.15: India reported 6,984 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours. According to the Union health ministry, the number of active cases in the country has decreased to 87,562.
The number of active coronavirus infections in the country is currently 0.25 percent of the entire caseload, the lowest since March 2020, according to the ministry, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate is 98.38 percent, the highest since March 2020.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization has warned that the new Omicron coronavirus variation is spreading at an unprecedented rate, urging countries to take action, as drugmaker Pfizer announced that their coronavirus pill is effective against the variant.
Over 134.61 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
247 deaths were also reported in the last 24 hours which took the total death toll in the country to 4,76,135.
