Dhanbad, Dec 21: Dr Ajay Kumar Singh of Ranchi, Jharkhand has been selected for the Indian Medical Association (IMA) President’s Appreciation Award for his lifelong service to the doctor’s body (IMA).
Famous eye specialist Dr Bharti Kashyap of Ranchi will get the Dr Jyoti Prasad Ganguli Memorial award.
Dr Abir Kumar Chakravarti of Dhanbad, Dr Vidya Bhushan of Giridih and Dr Prabha Rani Prasad of Godda district have also been selected for the award for their outstanding contribution.
The IMA national body will present this award to Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh at its two-day convention scheduled to be held in Patna from December 27 to 28.
Dr Singh, the patron of the Jharkhand IMA chapter, became the national vice-president in 2006 and was elected as the academic chairman of the national body for the 2015-2017 sessions.
Dr Singh, 70, became a member of the IMA Bihar chapter in 1975 and has been participating actively in its activities for the last 46 years. He continued his service to IMA even after the creation of Jharkhand state.
He has been reportedly given the national award for his awareness campaigns against malaria in remote districts, basic health awareness of school children, and for the safety of doctors involved in AIDS treatment of patients.
Besides Dr Ajay Kumar Singh, Jharkhand IMA president Dr AK Singh and Secretary Dr Pradeep Kumar Singh will also be felicitated with the IMA President’s Appreciation Award for best state chapter president and secretary in the country.
Dr Mritunjay Kumar Singh (Jamshedpur chapter) has also been selected for the award while Dr Anupam Singh of Ranchi will get the prestigious Dr Kanak Goel national award for Safe Motherhood Project.
Ranchi IMA chapter under Dr Shambhu Prasad has been adjudged as the best community service provider for the national award.
IMA Deoghar chapter of Dr Gaurishankar has been selected as the best district chapter and will get the Dr NS Chandra Bose national trophy.
Dr Ajit Kumar of Ranchi sadar hospital, Dr Anant Kumar Ojha, Dr Sankesh Kumar Singh, Dr Rajkumar, Dr DP Bhagat, Dr Avi Shankar and Thakur Mritunjay Singh of Ramgarh branch have selected for award as best young doctors.
