82,370 Cases Pending In Jharkhand Courts, Over 2.6 Lakh Disposed Since 2016

Ranchi: A total of 82,370 cases are currently pending in various courts of Jharkhand as of today. From January 1, 2016, to the present, a total of 3,43,481 cases have been registered in the state’s courts, out of which 2,61,111 cases have been disposed of.

Civil Cases Status

Talking specifically about civil matters, since January 2016, a total of 80,908 civil cases have been registered in Jharkhand. Out of these, 45,332 cases have already been disposed of, while 35,576 cases are still pending in various courts across the state.

Criminal Cases Status

Currently, 46,794 criminal cases are being heard in different courts of the state. From January 2016 till now, 2,62,573 criminal cases have been registered, out of which 2,15,779 cases have been disposed of.

Year-Wise Case Registration Trend

In recent years, the number of cases registered has seen some fluctuations. In 2022, a total of 8,556 civil cases and 33,901 criminal cases were registered. In 2023, this increased to 10,443 civil and 31,524 criminal cases. In 2024, the figures stood at 11,740 civil and 28,149 criminal cases. So far in 2025, 3,164 civil and 7,868 criminal cases have been registered.
