Daltonganj, June 8: Nawa Bazar police in Palamu recovered the stolen catenary and contact wires of the railways and nabbed four thieves also.

SDPO Surjit Kumar said that a few unidentified thieves had stolen the catenary and contact wires of copper on the night of June 4 from the work site of the KPTL agency of the Railway Vikas Nigam Ltd under the Nawa Bazar police station.

The deputy manager of the KPTL, Rajiv Singh, lodged an FIR in this connection with the Nawa Bazar police station on June 5 stating that their 228 meters of catenary and contact wires have been stolen.

The KPTL agency is laying the third track of the railways between Garhwa and Barwadeeh railway stations.

The SDPO said the officer in charge of the Nawa Bazar police station DK Das and his team cracked this case in record time.

The police caught four thieves and recovered 35-40 kgs of the stolen catenary and contact wires of the railways.

The arrested have been identified as Niru, Vikki, Asghar and Bali Ram, all residents of Palamu. All were remanded in judicial custody today.

As the stolen catenary and contact wires have been recovered, police have invoked section 379 of IPC making their bail difficult to be obtained now, said the advocates.
