Dhanbad : Yoga course for MBBS students

Dhanbad, June 11: Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) has made elaborate arrangement for introducing new Yoga course of National Medical Commission (NMC) schedule to start in medical colleges across the country from tomorrow.

As NMC protocol under this new foundation course ,1st MBBS professional would be taught Yoga education and training one hour every day for 10 days from June 12 to June 21.

Dr Krishna Kumari, head of the department physiology of SNNMMCH said that principal Dr Jyotiranjan Prasad and superintendent Dr AK Barnbal would jointly inaugurate the introduction of new curriculum. One hour class would start at 6 am. The trainer of Patanjali Vidyapith Umashankar Singh would hold theoretical and practical class of students.

“The course is mandatory for 1st MBBS professional ( 2021-22 batch but senior students, Interns all faculty head have shown keen interest to attend this new course starting for 10 days from tomorrow”, said Dr Krishna Kumari.

NMC has sent detail curriculum for one hour class which will start with prayer followed by different Yogasanas to be done in sitting and standing postures . “ We would follow complete protocol fixed by NMC. In theoretical class, students would be made aware about what is Yoga ,its basic relevance, its important in healthy life”, said Dr Krishna Kumari.

For successful launching and implementing new course, principal Dr Jyotiranjan Prasad has set up 13 members committee of senior faculty members under Dr Krishna Kumari. Other members are Prof (Dr ) DP Bhushan, Dr Anil Kumar, Dr Leena Singh, Dr Suchima Saha, Dr Raj Kumar Prasad, Dr Sarita Choudhary, Dr Chandrashekhar Suman, Dr Akash Chandra, Dr Phani Bhushan Singh, Dr Rishav Kumar Rana, Dr Sumanand Jha and Dr Sangit Gupta.
“ Though NMC has already shed light on importance of Yoga in curriculum, we feel , we should take resolution of performing Yoga daily as it adjusts between health and mind and provide mental peace”, said Dr Kumari.

Students and teachers both of the medical colleges are upbeat for the new Yoga course. “ Though course has been fixed only for 10 days, we would see what it gives us benefit in basic education ( medical subject)”, said a 1st MBBS professional.
