CIP organises blood donation camp to commemorate World Blood Donors Day

Ranchi, June 14: The Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP) in association with Blood Centre, Sadar Hospital, Ranchi organised a blood donation drive on the institute premises on Tuesday. The drive, notably, commemorated the World Blood Donors Day.

An awareness programme on voluntary blood donation was also conducted by Dr. Basudeb Das, Director, CIP, where he highlighted the various aspects of blood donation as well as debunked several misconceptions and myths associated with it.

An oath ceremony was held in the institute to promote voluntary blood donation followed by a blood donation camp. The donors were thanked for their contribution to saving lives. The Director, CIP, led with an example and donated blood along with senior officers of the institute to motivate and encourage people to donate blood.

Proper application of volunteers, screening, blood grouping and blood collection was done by the Sadar Hospital Team led by Imran Ansari. After the donation, certificates and refreshments were provided to the donors.

The drive was coordinated by Dr. Sunil Kumar Suryavanshi (Associate Professor), Dr. Chandra Shekhar Mahato (Senior Medical Officer), and Sunil Ram (Ward Attendant). The purpose of the drive was to provide blood for people in need and spread awareness of voluntary blood donation. The team collected a total of 12 units of blood.
