Daltonganj, June 21: Ramgarh police in Palamu are investigating a rare case of chopping off a portion of a man’s genitals.

The bizarre crime took place at village Nawadeeh under the Ramgarh police station in Palamu.

Prabhat Ranjan Rai, the officer in charge of the Ramgarh police station told lagatar24.com today that a 25-year-old married man Sunil Bhuihar, a Dalit of Nawadeeh village lodged a complaint with Ramgarh police station regarding the chopping off his penis.

The complaint was lodged on Monday (June 20) by the victim and after registering the FIR, the police have begun the investigation.

Meanwhile, the victim is undergoing treatment in the Medinirai Medical College Hospital.

The attending surgeon Dr Makbool Ansari was approached on phone today to know the health condition of Sunil.

He said the victim has emasculation of his penis. A good length of his penis has been chopped off and removed. The victim is left with just one and a half centimeters of his penis. The family of the victim could not find out the chopped-off portion of the penis.

The surgeon further said the victim had profuse bleeding following this excision of his penis and had his family delayed any more his life would have been more at peril.

“We have been asking his family to arrange at least one unit of blood for Sunil but his family is indifferent. No one around is bothered for the blood,” the surgeon said.

The medical superintendent of MMCH Dr Dilip Kr Singh and Senior surgeon Sushil Pandey are also taking notes on Sunil’s health.

Prabhat Ranjan Rai said that the prime suspect, in this case, is Sunil’s wife Manita Devi.

Manita is alleged to have had an extramarital affair with the youth and it is suspected that the two did this excision of Sunil’s penis on the intervening night of June 17 and 18. The victim later woke up to find himself in a pool of blood. “It appears the victim was first sedated, as a result, he could not resist or fight back,” the police officer added.

It is being said that Sunil was given this emasculation of his penis just as a warning not to come between his wife and another youth with whom she is alleged to have an illicit relationship.

Meanwhile, Manita Devi has been detained by the police and is being interrogated.

“We have the name of the guy who has illicit relations with the wife of the victim. He will be caught soon,” the police officer said.

According to lawyers, this case of excision of a portion of the penis is a fit case to come under section 307 of IPC (attempt to murder).

Officer Prabhat said police will invoke all suitable and proper sections of the IPC against his wife or his lover or both depending upon the outcome of the investigation which is in full swing.
