Ranchi, June 3: Namkum police station in charge has been accused of giving protection to criminals. This allegation has been made by Rajesh Kumar Singh, a resident of the Namkum police station area. Singh has complained regarding this to the Zonal IG.
In the complaint to the IG, Singh has said that the in-charge of Namkum police station gives protection to criminals and does not register an FIR against the culprits for the crime that happened to him. The complaint states that in the year 2018, the land was bought from Bela Lohar for the purpose of opening a school on it. After the completion of the construction work and after mutation, the school was started in the year 2019.
In March last year, Bela Lohar, the former owner of the land, got drunk and reached the school with about a dozen unknown people armed with sticks and weapons and started abusing the owner and others present. These people asked to vacate the land, and demand Rs 20 lakh if they would not vacate the property. They further gave death threats to Singh. On May 27, Lohar again reached the school with unknown people and demanded Rs 20 lakh in two days. He then threatened Singh once again.
The complaint to the IG further states that a written complaint was lodged at Namkum police station on May 28. The police had assured Singh of action, as well as the mobile number of SI Babulal Tudu was given to him. On June 29, Lohar reached the school at seven in the morning along with about two dozen criminals. The matter was reported to SI Babulal Tudu over the phone.
The SI did not come to the spot claiming lack of force, and called Singh to the police station at nine. Upon reaching the police station on time, Singh was made to wait, after which the station in-charge came at one pm. The matter was then forwarded to the station in-charge, who refused to take action and advised Singh to close the school by claiming a civil dispute. At the same time, the SHO said that there may be loss of life and property if the school is opened, hence it should not be opened.
