Ranchi, July 4: A Ranchi Court  today acquitted all the 16 accused who made illegal recovery from sand laden trucks impersonating themselves as mining officers due to lack of evidence. The order came from the court of Judicial commissioner Madhuresh Kumar Verma.

The case arose after an FIR was registered in this connection at Namkum police station on April 7, 2021 on the basis of a written application of the truck owner Vinod Kumar and police taking prompt action to arrest them. The police claimed to have recovered four firearms with several rounds of ammunition from their possession. The police produced them before the court, from where they were sent to jail in judicial custody

However, when the time came to testify in the court, the person who was made a witness in the seizure list, turned hostile. The witness told the court that the police had got him signed on a plain page. Not only this, other witnesses of the police also did not support the theory of the police in the court.
