Ranchi, July 5: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has filed a petition of perjury against petitioner Shiv Shankar Sharma and alleged him for making unsubstantiated allegations against him in the PIL 4290/2021.

The division bench of Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad is set to hear a batch of PILs namely 4290/2021 and 727/2022 both against Hemant Soren.

The chief minister is the respondent in this PIL in which the petitioner alleged him of amassing unaccounted money and parking money in different shell companies. The chief minister has rebutted the allegation that he has a close coterie that is involved in the loot of the state resources.

The chief minister who submitted a perjury petition against the petitioner under section 340 of CrPC at the Jharkhand High Court has requested the court to start criminal proceedings against the petitioner for making false allegations.

He charged the petitioner for misleading the court that he favoured Sohrai Livestock Farms Private Limited in awarding 11 acres of land for industrial purposes. He said that Sohrai Livestock got the land under the due process of law. CM’s wife Kalpana Murmu Soren and sister-in-law Sarla Murmu are directors at Sohrai Livestock Farms Private Limited.

The Chief Minister also refuted allegations that he squandered the state exchequer to purchase high-end SUVs for him as well as to furnish his official residence. He has claimed that SUVs were purchased by the government for official use only.  He said that frivolous allegations were made against him and his family with an ulterior motive to malign his image.

Notably, a day before yesterday a perjury petition was filed by the Jharkhand government against the petitioner in a similar matter.
