Patna, July 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to present a ceremonial pillar that was erected in the state Assembly grounds to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the state’s famous edifice and is topped with an elaborate bronze sculpture of the Bihar state insignia on July 12.
On Sunday morning, workmen were completing the towering obelisk that had been installed in the garden across from the grand structure’s main portico.
“We are all ready to host our Prime Minister, and all preparations have been made for his visit to the Bihar Assembly premises on July 12. It is a matter of great honour for us that the PM will be unveiling the Shatabdi Smriti Stambh that marks 100 years of the building that houses the Assembly. The pillar is 40-foot high, including 25 feet of civil structure clad with Jaisalmer stone and topped with a 15-foot bronze sculpture,” a senior official told PTI.
The octagonal-shaped pillar, which has five levels below the green-hued sculpture of a tree and sits on a large platform with three approaching stairs on all sides, has an octagonal cross-section. On the faces of the pillar’s base, panels have been inserted that represent various drawings that may be found throughout the Indian Constitution.
On October 21 of last year, President Ram Nath Kovind lay the cornerstone for the centenary pillar. Additionally, the President planted a Bodhi tree seedling, which is presently growing in front of the honorific column.
The prime minister will dedicate a garden as “Shatabdi Smriti Udyan” during his visit at the Bihar Assembly grounds. 100 herbal plants have been added to the garden beside the centennial pillar, according to officials.
Additionally scheduled to attend are Bihar Governor Fagu Chauhan, Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad, and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Tejashwi Yadav.
