Ranchi, July 14: As monsoon has arrived, the fear of mosquito-borne diseases are on the rise. The residents of Ranchi claim that the fogging to kill mosquitoes by Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) is not carried out in most parts of the city.

However, RMC officials have denied these allegations and said that there has been regular fogging and there have been no complaints as such by residents so far. But the residents claim that the fogging auto passes by various parts of the city without doing the work.

Moreover, the residents have claimed that the fogging is done on a regular basis in the VIP areas.

Shashank Minz, a resident of Khoratoli in Kokar, said that there has been no fogging in their locality recently. “No such exercise has been conducted here by the RMC in the past one week. I don’t even remember if any such thing has been done in the last few weeks. There are a lot of mosquitoes in our locality and the risk of malaria and dengue is quite high,” he said.

An employee of RMC who has been assigned to carry out fogging spoke to lagatar24.com requesting anonymity.

“We get directions from the officials on a daily basis on where to go for fogging. Fogging takes place all around the city but in intervals. The last time we did fogging was in Morabadi area a week bavk,” the worker said.

There are more than 25 staff that have been employed by RMC to carry out the fogging drives.

Another resident of Upper Chutia Manish Kumar said that the fogging vehicle passes through their locality quite often but does not carry out any fogging.

RMC health officers had earlier said that they prepare a roster according to which fogging is carried out twice in each ward every week. However, the residents have denied any such exercise being conducted.
