Jahangirpuri violence: Police files charge sheet before Delhi court

New Delhi, July 14: In a case involving the most recent Jahangirpuri violence, the Delhi police on Thursday filed a charge sheet against 45 people before a court in this city on a number of counts, including criminal conspiracy and violating the Arms Act.

The charge sheet was 2063 pages long and listed eight suspects who have fled the country as well as the 37 accused who were detained in connection with the case.

The charging document stated that a total of nine firearms, five live rounds, two empty rounds, nine swords, and the clothing worn by 11 accused individuals at the time of the incident and visible in videos had all been found.

Out of 37, 20 of the arrested suspects were caught on CCTV or in viral videos, and technology was employed to aid identify the suspects.

A total of 132 witnesses, including 85 police officers and 47 members of the public (including doctors and other medical professionals), were questioned, and 21 mobile phones were taken from the accused.

Notably, on April 16, eight police officers and a local citizen were hurt during stone-throwing and arson between the two communities in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri neighborhood.
