New Delhi, July 17: The Center will host an all-party meeting to discuss the current situation in Sri Lanka on Tuesday . On July 19, the second day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, the meeting will be presided over by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar.
Prior to the Monsoon Session of Parliament, leaders of several political parties gathered on Sunday.
“The government has called another all-party meeting under EAM Dr S Jaishankar and FM Sitharaman on the current crisis in Sri Lanka, to be held on Tuesday,” Briefing the media after the meeting, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said.
M Thambi Durai, the leader of the AIADMK, and TR Balu, the leader of the DMK, suggested that India get involved in resolving the problem in Sri Lanka at the meeting on Sunday.
In light of Sri Lanka’s greatest economic crisis, India has started providing gasoline and ration supplies. Jaishankar claimed last week that India had pledged USD 3.8 billion for Sri Lanka.
In accordance with a credit line provided to aid Sri Lankan farmers, India has also delivered 44,000 metric tonnes of urea.
