New Delhi, July 19: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has advised students against enrolling in Wardha, Maharashtra’s Digital University of Skill Resurgence. The UGC stated in the official notification released on Tuesday, July 19, that enrolling in such “self-styled” colleges could endanger a student’s career. The Digital University of Skill Resurgence is offering courses and programmes in flagrant violation of the UGC Act, 1956, according to UGC.
Only universities formed or incorporated under a central act, provisional act, state act, or an institution regarded to be a university under Section 3 are entitled to offer degrees to students, according to Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956.
Degrees can also be awarded by organisations that are authorised by a parliamentary statute. According to the UGC, The Digital University of Skill Resurgence does not fit within any of these categories.
UGC additionally stated that unless a school is founded through a central act, temporary act, or state act, it is not permitted to use the word “university” in its name in any way. Additionally, the UGC has urged students not to enroll in such institutions because doing so could harm their careers.
