New Delhi, July 20: In the opening round of the men’s singles division on Wednesday, Indian player Parupalli Kashyap defeated Chinese Taipei’s Chi Yu Jen to get his Taipei Open 2022 campaign off to a winning start.
By scores of 24-22 and 21-10, Kashyap overcame his adversary. Although the first game was hotly contested, the second was incredibly one-sided. Kashyap triumphed in both of them to win the contest. In the other men’s singles match, Mithun Manjunath advanced to the second round after defeating Kim Bruun of Denmark.
He won by scores of 21-17 and 21-15 in two successive games. Manjunath dominated the court to the point that he comfortably defeated his Danish opponent and ended the match.
Malvika Bansod of India lost to Liang Ting Yu of Chinese Taipei in the first round of the women’s singles competition, however, and was eliminated from the race.
Indian suffered a 10-21, 21-15, and 21-14 defeat against Yu. By winning the opening game, Bansod had gotten off to a strong start. However, she dropped the following two games and was out of the running.
Parupalli last appeared at the Singapore Open 2022, when he competed in the men’s singles division and lost in the opening round.
