New Delhi, July 21:  As the Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned Congress President Sonia Gandhi on the National Herald issue on Thursday, young members of Congress marched to the streets, set fire to cars, and stopped trains.

Party members protested against the central agency by setting a car on fire in front of the ED office in Shanti Nagar in Bengaluru. Police are attempting to confirm the vehicle’s registration number, according to DCP R Srinivas Gowda.

“We are trying to verify if it was a scrap vehicle or if it belonged to someone. Registration number has been taken and is being verified. 11 people have been detained. We are checking which organisation they belong to and whether it’s their own car,” he said.

The demonstration began at the party headquarters on Queen’s Road and was led by former chief minister Siddaramaiah and state president D K Shivakumar. A public gathering was held at Freedom Park to conclude the rally.

In the meantime, in Seshadripuram, a Youth Congress employee was discovered with a kerosene bottle next to a car. The car was towed away by the police officers.

On Thursday, party members disrupted trains at Shivaji Bridge station in Delhi by staging protests on the tracks.
