Jharkhand Tourism Policy 2021 will attract private players to invest in state, says Amitabh Kaushal

Ranchi, July 23: The Jharkhand Tourism Policy 2021 was unveiled by Chief Minister Hemant Soren and other officials in New Delhi on Saturday. The new policy aims to attract public as well as private investors to invest in Jharkhand and promote its tourism.

Amitabh Kaushal, Secretary, Department of Home, Jail & Disaster Management (Disaster Management) explained that the new Policy’s objectives are economic development, employment generation and sustainable development. It primary motive is “to reinvent and position Jharkhand as a must-visit destination” in India. It also aims to create 75,000 jobs focusing on the backward and vulnerable community and give capital investment incentives.

He added that the key strategic points of the new policy are participation by private sectors, infrastructure development, public investment in hospitality, community participation and promotion and branding.

Explaining the fiscal investment, he said that it will be done through the single window system and incentives will be provided as well to private and public investors.

Some of the key incentive-related details which he gave were capital investment subsidy, reimbursement of GST, no holding tax to be charged for five years and special consideration to be given to ST, SC and physically handicapped people.

Jharkhand is endowed with rich cultural heritage and bestowed liberally with bounties of nature. Jharkhand is known for fascinating forest, captivating wildlife, enthralling waterfalls, exquisite handicrafts, sprawling water bodies, enchanting classical and folk dances and music and above all hospitable and peace-loving people.

The government also aims to actively encourage both-Indian and foreign private investment/ participation in tourism infrastructure projects. It would also be prepared to participate in joint ventures for such infrastructure development projects.

After unveiling the new policy, a teaser of the promo series ‘Postcards from Jharkhand’ was shown which is a collaboration between National Geographic Channel and Jharkhand Government.
