Daltonganj, July 30: Palamu DC Anjaneyulu Dodde directed the BDOs, COs and the SDOs to conduct Janta Darbar every Tuesday at their respective workplaces to help the applicants get their work done at the block level as soon as possible.

The decision has been taken to lessen the hardships of the poor who have to travel far to meet the DC.

Sources said that the idea to hold one Janta Darbar a week at block level aims at providing relief to the commuting public all for the redressal of their grievances.

Chhatarpur SDO NK Gupta spoke of ex-gratia relief worth Rs 4 lakh to families where deaths occur due to lightning. He also spoke about the anti-snake and anti-rabies vaccine and asked people not to go for any ‘jhar phoonk’ but visit the government health centres for treatment.

District Agriculture Officer Arun Kumar asked the people at the Janta Darbar not to go for any paddy cultivation in the upland as there is an acute deficiency of rain. He reminded that no farmer should take any risk of paddy cultivation in the upland. It will be an exercise in futility if any attempt to cultivate paddy in the upland is made.

Many residents of the village spoke to the DC and shared their grievances such as lack of electricity, lack of disability pension, lack of ex-gratia relief, complaints regarding the marketing officer, demand of bribe, etc during the Janta Darbar at Hariharganj.

The secretary of the Red Cross Society Palamu Dr S Gupta was directed by the DC to hand over a cheque of Rs 10,000 to a disabled child. The DC reminded that there will be no ‘Awas’ for those who have a concrete roof.

An HIV-positive woman was given a cheque of Rs 20,000 by the secretary of the Red Cross Society under the order of the DC to buy medicines. The Palamu civil surgeon Dr Anil Kumar was directed to ensure that the woman gets medicine.

A youth informed the DC that due to the bad condition of the Harihurganj stadium, he and others are not able to practice long-distance running to qualify for Army recruitment. The DC ensured that he would get the field in order.
