Dhanbad, Aug 3: Hundreds of Congress leaders and workers of the district will hold a dharna and court arrest on August 5 against price hike of essential commodities, corruption and GST on small items.
The decision was taken at the District Congress Committee meeting in the late afternoon today.
District Congress President Brajendra Prasad Singh said that unemployment, corruption, price hike and GST on small items have life tough for common people. So, Congress’s district unit has decided to stage a dharna followed by court arrest on August 5 in the interest of the common people.
Singh said that the central government has left no option for the Cong but to descend on roads for the sake of common people as people are struggling hard due to price hikes.
“Besides dharna and court arrest on August 5, the district Congress has also made arrangements for 75 km long Paidal Yatra (foot march) from August 9 to August 14 as per the directive of All India Congress Committee and Jharkhand State Congress Committee President Rajesh Thakur to mark 75th Azadi Mahotsav,” said district president Singh.
District Committee Working President Ravindra Verma said that workers and leaders in large numbers will assemble at Randhir Verma Chowk (the official Dharna spot of the district headquarters) on August 5 to make the programme a success.
