Ranchi, Aug 5: A body was recovered by the police from a Dhaba near Maina Garden, about 60 km from Ranchi under Sadar police station area of Lohardaga district on Friday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Devnath Asur who worked as a record room employee at the Collectorate.

A letter addressed in the name of Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu was recovered from his pocket.

Though the police have not come out with any statement suggesting under which circumstance the body was found there, a local resident said it appears that someone strangled Asur to death.

Asked what made the resident think so, he said the shirt of the deceased is torn and there is no other injury mark on the body. He said the place from where the body was recovered suggests that liquor was consumed there before the crime.

Asked about the content of the letter, the resident said that a request has been made to MP seeking help for the marriage of the deceased’s daughter.
