CWG 2022: Wrestling events venue emptied following security alert

New Delhi, Aug 5: The wrestling venue for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham has been emptied after a security alert on Friday.

“We’re taking a short pause for a safety check and will resume action once we receive the go-ahead,” the United World Wrestling said in a tweet.

In men’s freestyle wrestling earlier today, Indian competitors Bajrang Punia and Deepak Punia made it to the quarterfinals of their respective divisions. Both the men’s and women’s wrestling quarterfinal schedule for India includes a number of matches between medal contenders.

The United World Wrestling Twitter account announced another update in which it stated that the wrestling matches would resume at 12:45 local time.
